Firmware for HP DVD Writer dvd420e The upgrade includes the following features: Updated laser write strategies for new brands of DVD+R/­RW and DVD-R/­RW media.­ Before Running the Update: The RecordNow software included on the DVD Writer installation disc must be installed for the firmware update to operate successfully.­ Install RecordNow before running this update.­ Instructions: Download the dvd420n_­133.­exe file to the computer containing the DVD Writer drive.­ Once the file is fully downloaded,­ double-click the dvd420n_­133.­exe file to install and initiate the firmware update.­ Follow the on-screen directions to complete the firmware update.­ Reminder: The DVD Writer must have the power cycled off after the firmware update.­ DVD420i Owners: Cycle power to the DVD420i by shutting down and turning off the computer.­ DC4000 and DVD420e Owners: Cycle power to the DC4000 Movie Writer or DVD420e by shutting down the computer,­ manually unplugging power to the DVD Writer,­ and then re-plugging in the power cable into the drive.­ Failure to cycle power may result in the DVD Writer temporarily malfunctioning.­ Compatible devices: Q2132A
